The Bed - Adrian Schvarzstein

So, let's see, last year I organized the pictures by days, but honestly I am really lagging on my updates on my blogs, so this time it will be by performances. And this year, the first I was was: The Bed by Adrian Schvarzstein. Spanish fella, very keen on touching the ladies, lots of hair and rather comical. He really knew how to capture the audience attention, for that matter he literally grabed some of the audience for his performance, thank goodness I wasnt one of them ...

So he arrived on a sunny saturday morning in Graz. With way too much clothing by the way.

He settled himself comfortably in the Stadtpark and got ready for ...

Pictures ...

Well, let me tell you a little story. The girl that is taking the previous picture is somebody I saw a year ago, but never met until now. Ok, so the deal is that in last year's LaStrada I found her in a show also taking pictures, and somehow I managed to take one of my favourite pictures of the show, which I entitled: El Escape de Dulcinea (Dulcinea's Flight). I like that picture so much that is actually the wallpaper in my phone. Anyhow, after one year I saw this girl again and I couldnt but approach her and ask her to visit my site. And well, I had the chance to take a funny picture of her in her photographing duties:

Ok, back to Adrian, so he uses the public as props:

This lady had the unfortunate pleasure of being caught by Mr. Schvarzstein's eye, and somehow ...

she ended up in his bed .... in public. :P

After .... disposing of her, Mr Schvarzstein, as a good gentleman told us to leave,

but since we didnt, he left, with the distressed lady on his side ...

Alright, im ridiculously tired, I will update more performances tomorrow. Night!

Day Six, The Finale

And everything must come to an end. Unfortunately, the shows will go to sleep for one year, and I will be expecting to that next time when i can click my camera like crazy one more time. So, no more introduction, here you go, the last presentation:

Jo Bithume : Victor Frankenstein

I could actually attend to this show because a dear friend of mine bought this ticket for me as my birthday present, so I enjoyed it twice as much. The story of Mary Shelley's Frankestein

I am unsure but I think it all started on a ship ...

Narrating the story of Frankenstein

How he was educated

And how he wasnt really far from the edge

A bright little fella

Who with the right guidance

Would come to shake all our minds

And so he created him

A creature who could horrify anyone

But capable of one of the most basic human instincts

With a new meaning to 'falling in love with death'

After a long journey, looking for his father

And alas!, the only feasible end

Leaving no witnesses of Frankestein's knowledge

And so Graz said goodbye to LaStrada

I hope you enjoyed the show, the pics or both. I'll go to sleep for one more year, and after that, I will see you again.

Goodnight.

Day Five, sorry no day four

Well, it turns out I had zero time for the day four, so i had to skip it. Anyway, I got to catch the shows of day five, two in particular, both were fun in very different ways. One of them was a complete dance and expression show, similar to Nihilo, the other one was a pop show with lots of music and comedy. Both were definitely worth seeing.

So, anyway, no more words, lets go to the pics:

Tango Sumo : Expedition Paddock

Dancing, lots of corporeal expression, a bit of comedy (made everyone laugh), and some abstract hidden meaning, which i didnt have time to experience as i spent most of the time behind the lens.

It all started with a bunch of crazy people

Who could do admiring feats

With sometimes a bit of a sarcastic meaning

Sometimes they just enjoyed people's applause

Sometimes their imagination just flew away

Acrobatics, was certainly not unknown to the performers

Backstage things were also interesting

Already having lost their heads

And then ... they transformed

into some sort of funny creatures

With akward movements

Hard to describe, all I know

Is that they could fly

And the kid of the day goes to ...

Les Alamas Givrés : Die Abenteuer von Don Quijote und Sancho Panza
And of course, the tale of Don Quijote de la Mancha could not be out of the Festival.

"En un lugar de la mancha de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme ... "
> "In a place of La Manche, which name I do not want to remember ..."

Completely pop presentation, complete with fireworks and Robbie williams music. I wonder if Cervantes is twisting in his grave.

It all started in ...

They draw a big crowd for their long and rocky journey

The heros came through a long journey, chased by police men

They even were pulled out, complete with horses and everything

Very strict of course

Oh poetry!, a essential piece of the show

And our main character, the hero of the tale, where is your Dulcinea?

Making a number of stops, even for a small snack, and perhaps a bit more

And somebody else was running with the crowd and catching pics. I would love to see her results. Check out the DeviantArt version of this pic here: El Escape de Dulcinea

All to end in the legendary Hauptplatz

I hope you enjoyed this day's pic. I will post tomorrow the Finale.
